Championing community building efforts to encourage wellness and spur livelihood amid the pandemic, Ortigas Land, a pioneer in shaping Metro Manila’s real estate landscape, rolls out the Ortigas Community Market in its estates. Those who reside in and close to its estates—Capitol Commons and Ortigas East in Pasig City, Circulo Verde in Quezon City, and Greenhills in San Juan City—are provided with safe and convenient access to fresh and healthy produce, and locally sourced and made products.

Since the start of the quarantine period, Ortigas Land has reinforced its commitment towards building resilient and thriving communities through measures they have placed across its estates. While ensuring strict implementation of safety protocols in all of its developments remains a priority, Ortigas Land also supports its merchant partners through constant features about their products and services in various channels, most especially in its dedicated messaging groups. The real estate developer has also advocated for its communities’ well-being, with Greenhills recently opening the Greenhills Active Playground, its dedicated bike and jogging lanes to support its community to maintain an active lifestyle.

Ortigas Land takes a step further as the company boosts support for its own community and for those beyond its estates during these challenging times through the Ortigas Community Market. The series of weekend markets in Capitol Commons, Ortigas East, Circulo Verde, and Greenhills brings nutritious food, locally sourced products, closer to the residents of Metro Manila — an effort to advocate for urban residents’ wellness and health, while extending support to small-scale merchants and producers who are greatly hit by the impacts of the pandemic. Ortigas Land champions community-building activities such as its community market as a great way to engage residents and patrons in becoming drivers of growth for the economy as they purchase from the local merchants, and consequently help them sustain their livelihoods and provide for their own families.

For the initial run of its community market, Ortigas Land focused on helping farmer communities, small businesses, and local merchants to conveniently sell their farm fresh produce and other quality products in its estates in Pasig, Quezon City, and San Juan. The collective effort started last month in Circulo Verde in partnership with Cordillera Landing on You (CLOY), a group which supports local agripreneurs from Cordillera and Baguio. CLOY continued on to be a partner of Ortigas Land for its community market in Capitol Commons on September 12 and 13 where the “Farm-to-Wheels” concept was also introduced. In partnership with the Philippine Mobile Food Truck Association (PMFTA), this initiative introduces an alternative setup for provincial goods made available at the pop up market. Ortigas East also had its first community market on September 4 in partnership with Oh My Gulay, a group that curates fresh fruits and vegetables from Benguet and Nueva Vizcaya.

Seeing the positive reception of the community, Ortigas Land has scaled the community market bringing in more merchants, and turning it into a regular activity. The community market at Circulo Verde now takes place every 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.

What to know before you go

Ortigas Land values the safety and well-being of the residents and visitors of its estates. As the weekend market will take place within commercial establishments, the guidelines set by the  Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will be implemented. At all times, each buyer must wear a face mask and face shield, and should keep a 2-meter distance from other people on the weekend market premises. There would be a limited number of people allowed in the venue to ensure that social distancing is followed.

Upon entry, all visitors are required to fully accomplish and submit a health declaration form, and submit themselves to temperature checks. Designated points of entry, and points of exit will be strictly maintained to ensure proper flow of traffic, and for the management to be able to properly monitor all visitors.

Ortigas Land also encourages a more sustainable lifestyle as buyers can opt to bring and use their own eco-bags for their purchases from the Ortigas Community Market.
