SM Center Sangandaan’s weekend job fair drew 726 applicants, with 150 job seekers hired on the spot, as companies ramped up recruitment ahead of the Christmas season.
The job fair, held at the mall’s third level, offered more than 7,971 vacancies from participating employers across several industries, including retail, hospitality, logistics and business services.
Available positions included sales associates, customer service representatives, warehouse personnel, administrative staff and management roles.
The event gave job seekers access to employment opportunities as businesses prepared for the expected increase in customer traffic and operational requirements during the holiday season, traditionally one of the busiest periods for many companies.
SM Center Sangandaan Assistant Mall Manager Roma Bautista said the mall’s partnership with participating employers was aimed at connecting job seekers with companies looking to expand their workforce.
“The holiday season holds great significance for us Filipinos, and having a dedicated and dynamic workforce is the key to making Christmas truly memorable for everyone,” Bautista said.
She said the job fair was intended not only to address immediate hiring needs but also to connect applicants with opportunities that could lead to longer-term employment and career growth.
The event highlighted the role of community-based job fairs in bringing employers and job seekers together, particularly as companies strengthen their workforce ahead of the holiday shopping season.
Preliminary results showed that 150 applicants secured jobs during the event, while hundreds more were able to apply for available positions from the participating companies.
