Months after the graduation of the second cohort of Amazon Web Services (AWS) re/Start scholars—sponsored by Chevron Philippines and delivered in collaboration with Edukasyon.ph—a majority of the 50 scholars have successfully transitioned into employment.
AWS re/Start is a cohort-based workforce development program that prepares unemployed and underemployed individuals for entry-level cloud careers. The program covers foundational topics in cloud computing, including cloud fundamentals, storage, networking, security, databases, and programming. Graduates of the Program are provided with job placement support. Edukasyon.ph connects graduates to local or international employers thereby empowering learners to support their families and launch meaningful careers in technology.
Within just three months of completing the program, 62% (31 graduates) have secured employment across multinational corporations, government agencies, startups, and non-profit organizations.
Employers include Samsung Research Philippines, CarParts.com, Fujitsu Singapore, Kyndryl Philippines, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), among others. Of those employed, 80.64% are working with Philippine-based organizations, while 19.36% have secured remote roles with international employers.
Graduates of the AWS re/Start Program have taken on a wide range of roles, including software development, systems and network infrastructure, data analysis, and training and facilitation. Others have pursued opportunities in business and program management, cloud support, quality assurance, and testing.
“What I love most about the AWS re/Start program is how it brought me closer to a career I once thought was out of reach. As a career shifter, it served as my guide toward the right path. While there’s still a long journey ahead, being on track gives me a sense of pride and fulfillment,” said Maria Adelide dela Cruz, one of the program’s graduates.
“We are very proud and happy to see our graduates being employed in well-known organizations. It truly warms our hearts to witness our former scholars thriving and building promising futures for themselves. At Chevron, we are grateful to support and continue partnering with organizations that share our mission—to uplift communities and help those in need,” said Atty. Raissa Bautista, Senior Corporate Advisor of Chevron Philippines.
Chevron Philippines remains committed to exploring and implementing meaningful ways to serve the community through initiatives on education, environmental protection, livelihood development, safety, and sustainability. This is a testament to the company’s vision of building long-term progress through consistent collaboration and a persistent sense of social responsibility.
