Araneta City malls—Gateway Mall, Ali Mall, and Farmers Plaza—received safety seal certifications from the Quezon City local government following their strict compliance with minimum public health standards.

A ceremonial turnover of certificates and posting of seal stickers were held on July 1 at the Gateway Mall. The event was headed by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, together with Margie Santos, Department Head of the Quezon City Business Permits and Licensing Department; Antonio Mardo, Senior Vice President for Operations of Araneta City; Noel Leonor, Chief of Staff; and Marjorie Go, Assistant Vice President for Marketing of Araneta City.

“We are honored and proud to be among the establishments in the private sector to be given a safety seal from the government,” Mardo said. “Since the start of the pandemic early last year, we have made it a point to ensure the strict implementation of minimum health standards set by our government, and to maintain the health and safety of everyone here in Araneta City.”

The certificates were given to Araneta City after the malls passed the rigorous inspection of Quezon City’s Safety Seal Certification Committee. The City of Firsts has been implementing the use of Kyusipass in mall and store entrances, and has been observing safety entrance protocols and regular sanization in every establishment.

“This milestone signifies our continuous cooperation with the government in the fight against COVID-19. The Safety Seal reinforces our efforts to make sure that we minimize the threats of viral infection in the City of Firsts,” Mardo added.

Araneta City has recently partnered with Quezon City for the free use of Smart Araneta Coliseum and New Frontier Theater to assist in the faster rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.

Mayor Belmonte strongly encouraged registered business establishments to apply and display the Safety Seal as proof that they comply with minimum health protocols, like the wearing of masks and face shields, and the use of KyusiPass. This was enshrined through the signing and implementation of Executive Order no. 13 s. 2021.

“As we proudly display the Safety Seal in Araneta City malls, our customers can be assured that their health and safety always comes first at the City of Firsts,” Mardo concluded.
